Project Paper (25% Final Grade)

Due Date: April 21 by 11:30 PM

Submit the Project Paper through Brightspace. No hard copies or email submissions will be accepted.

This is a group assignment. Students will work on an assigned research project, with an assigned group. Students will identify the ways Artificial Intelligence [AI] is used in the field of Human Resources. Students will have to conduct research in order to understand the current uses, pros and cons, and ethical implications. Students can gain insight from various sources including: Business articles, business news, peer-reviewed sources and industry news and trends, and human resources magazines.

The Project Paper must include the following:

1. Title Page – follow APA guidelines (7th edition)

2. Introduction (include citations)

  • Background and importance of study
  • Purpose of Research
  • Statement of the problem - Describe the problem.
  • Research question(s) – all papers must have a research question(s). The research question(s) addresses the problem and guides the research. The research question must be researchable. This means the groups should be able to gather evidence that would help answer the research question(s). The research question derives from the literature review.

3. Literature Review (include citations). The literature review is a well-reasoned argument that gives rise to the research question. It is not a book report. It is an analysis of publications of what others have learned/understood about the issue at hand. The literature review supports the analysis groups would conduct, the research question(s) addressed in the paper, the statement of the problem, and it supports the inclusion and/or exclusion of variables in a model.

Note: Identify at least 6 sources in this section. Keep in mind the task of identifying appropriate marketing strategies for the city assigned and event chosen.

4. Research Methodology (research design, study site, sampling) - explains how groups would prepare the data/materials (data collection process) for analysis.

  • Research Design: Method(s) that groups would use to collect or generate the data (the best method that would help answer the research question(s). Explain.
  • Study Site: Description of the site where groups would collect the information. Explain.
  • Sampling: Describe the sampling method, samples/participants or materials (data sources). We will discuss several sampling methodologies during the course and non-probability and probability sample methods (look at chapter 14). Explain reasoning. Describe how the sample was selected. This applies for both qualitative and quantitative research.

5. Process of Analysis - Method that would be used to analyze the data. Due to time constraints, groups will not collect data. In this section the group explains how the data would be analyzed, if collected through a qualitative or quantitative method.

6. Conclusion and recommendations

  • Since groups will not collect data, groups can make suggestions on how the chosen methodology would help answer the research question. Describe how to improve the research design.

7. References

8. Appendices

  • A list of the group members and the research method used for HWs 3 and 4.

Requirements:

  1. All groups will submit a draft of their introduction section and literature review to Dr. Zollner by week 10 (March 25). Groups will submit their work through Brightspace assignment folder.
  2. All groups must make an appointment to meet with Dr. Zollner (once) either on week 10 or 11.

Plagiarism is not tolerated, this includes AI. Refer to the syllabus and the NMHU Student Handbook section on "Student Academic Integrity Policy" Student Handbook - New Mexico Highlands University (nmhu.edu)
