Accessing the Las Vegas Optic at the Library

The Las Vegas Optic is available at the Donnelly Library in both print and microfilm from 1879 to the current issue. For current issues, please visit the Periodicals department on the Second Floor of the Donnelly Library.

Digital access to the Las Vegas Optic is not currently available through the Donnelly Library, due to licensing restrictions.

The Donnelly Library is the repository of record for the Las Vegas Optic and houses archival copies of historical issues and photographic materials related to the publication. Please contact the University Archivist for further details (505-454-3255 / kathleengray@nmhu.edu).

Requesting Information from the Las Vegas Optic

Library staff are available to provide assistance to users looking for specific articles or other information from the Las Vegas Optic. To ensure a smooth reference transaction, please keep the following in mind:

  • Include all pertinent information, such as: complete names (including maiden names), dates (estimated is acceptable), and locations.
  • Requests submitted in writing (via email) are preferred in order to minimize possible errors with names, places, and dates.
  • Questions are answered in the order in which they are received. Response time depends on the volume of requests and staffing levels.
  • In-depth research may be beyond the purview of library staff.
